Three Legg’d Mare are an Aberystwyth band with an interest in the traditional songs and tunes of Wales, England and beyond, and the social history and folklore that lies behind them. Their lively and sensitive interpretations of old songs of madness, love, death, adventure, injustice and everyday life (and some original compositions), with close vocal harmonies and a wide variety of instruments (including Appalachian dulcimer, fiddle, bouzouki, guitar, mandolin, whistles, pibgorn cwd, concertina, harmonica, shruti box and bodhrán), are earning them a strong following throughout Wales and the borders.

The name of Three Legg’d Mare hints at many things: the old way of life that moved at the pace of the horse, or perhaps the three members of the band, or maybe even the old goddess Epona, but it actually comes from something much grittier - the old gallows at Tyburn. A journey through physical and metaphysical worlds, history set to music, a lively pub session, past and present connected with a social conscience, an irreverent insight into past lives - Three Legg’d Mare is all of these and more.

Carningli Nights Out FAQ's

What drinks will be available?

You're in luck on the beer front! We will have a wide selection of our own beers available on tap at every event. If beer isn't your thing, we also serve wine, cider, soft drinks and alcohol free beers.

We do not serve spirits.

We do not allow people to bring their own drinks into the venue - anybody found with their own drinks will be asked to leave. Please don't make us do that!

Do you have a card machine?

We do have a card machine but we’re not able to offer cashback & signal is sometimes unreliable, it’s best to bring cash for the bar & food.

Can I bring my dog?

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome during regular taproom opening hours, but our bigger events are not suitable for dogs, they are very busy and noisy. If you are unclear, please get in touch with us.

When visiting during taproom opening hours, please remember that the Brewery is on a working farm, and ensure that your dogs are supervised at all times and on short leads. There are working dogs on-site.

Can I book a taxi?

Local taxi firm Home James Taxis will be available to help you get home. We are very much "out in the sticks" and don't have taxis passing the venue regularly, we also don't have the best phone signal - so we strongly recommend pre-booking your taxi. Our events are usually wrapped up by 11/11.30 and everybody off site by midnight - if that helps with working out when to book your taxi home.

Where can I park? (CNO)

There is limited parking at the Brewery. We would appreciate it if you could car share where possible.

Will there be food? (CNO)

There will be no food available at our smaller events.
