Bringing together two of the UK’s most distinctive and celebrated folk voices, Dan Walsh and Alistair Anderson unite for a duo performance shaped by virtuosity, warmth and a deep-rooted love of traditional music. Having collaborated in numerous duo settings over the years, their musical partnership is as intuitive as it is compelling.

Dan Walsh’s dazzling banjo playing, emotive songwriting and natural stage presence have earned him international acclaim and a nomination for the BBC Folk Awards. A boundary-pushing artist, he has redefined the possibilities of the banjo, taking its sound across continents and musical styles. Whether as a solo performer, band member, sought-after session musician or influential teacher, Walsh continues to surprise and delight audiences. His latest work revisits one of his earliest inspirations—American country music—resulting in some of his most joyful and entertaining music to date.

Alongside him, Alistair Anderson is internationally revered as a master of the English concertina and a leading exponent of the Northumbrian pipes. With a remarkable touring career that includes 37 tours of the USA, multiple visits to Australia and countless performances across Europe, Anderson has long been a central figure in traditional music. His repertoire spans the lyrical airs and lively dance tunes of Northumberland alongside his own finely crafted compositions; all delivered with sincerity and expressive depth.

Together, Walsh and Anderson create a rich musical dialogue that bridges generations and traditions. Their performances blend innovation with heritage, pairing Walsh’s bold, contemporary edge with Anderson’s timeless mastery. The result is an engaging, uplifting and deeply musical experience from two artists at the height of their powers.

Carningli Nights Out FAQ's

What drinks will be available?

You're in luck on the beer front! We will have a wide selection of our own beers available on tap at every event. If beer isn't your thing, we also serve wine, cider, soft drinks and alcohol free beers.

We do not serve spirits.

We do not allow people to bring their own drinks into the venue - anybody found with their own drinks will be asked to leave. Please don't make us do that!

Do you have a card machine?

We do have a card machine but we’re not able to offer cashback & signal is sometimes unreliable, it’s best to bring cash for the bar & food.

Can I bring my dog?

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome during regular taproom opening hours, but our bigger events are not suitable for dogs, they are very busy and noisy. If you are unclear, please get in touch with us.

When visiting during taproom opening hours, please remember that the Brewery is on a working farm, and ensure that your dogs are supervised at all times and on short leads. There are working dogs on-site.

Can I book a taxi?

Local taxi firm Home James Taxis will be available to help you get home. We are very much "out in the sticks" and don't have taxis passing the venue regularly, we also don't have the best phone signal - so we strongly recommend pre-booking your taxi. Our events are usually wrapped up by 11/11.30 and everybody off site by midnight - if that helps with working out when to book your taxi home.

Where can I park? (CNO)

There is limited parking at the Brewery. We would appreciate it if you could car share where possible.

Will there be food? (CNO)

There will be no food available at our smaller events.
